10 Things I Was Going to Try in 2011 (But Didn’t)

From tattoos to jumpsuits, the style things I missed out on.

In 2012, I want to try fake lashes like Kris Jenner wears. Plus nine other things that I never got around to doing in 2011...

I tend to push myself when it comes to looking better. Last year I endured cosmetic surgery, cut my hair really short and tried everything from furry boot toppers to nerd glasses.

But there were plenty of things I wanted to try stylewise in 2011 that I never got around to that I'll be putting on my must-try list for 2012.

Here's my list. What do you want to try in 2012?

  1. Botox – I crave the look of a smooth forehead. I've even had a mini-consult to find out I'll need it in three places ($650 or so, thankyouverymuch.) And yet, all I seem to do is talk about Botox instead of actually getting it. Maybe 2012 will be the year to try the face freeze.
  2. Jumpsuits – I love the way one-piece dressing looks. With the right cut and style, it can make you look sleek and urban. But will I ever actually take the plunge and wear a jumpsuit again (I'm pretty sure it's been 30 years since I've tried one..)? Who knows?!
  3. Fake lashes – If there's one thing I envy about Kris Jenner, it's her way with falsies. Eye lashes, that is. The Kardashian momager seems to wear them on top and bottom. I actually bought fake eyelashes to wear with my Halloween costume, but found them too hard to put on and not that much longer than my real ones.
  4. Tattoo – The one thing I really wanted in 2011 was a tattoo. I even picked out a location (lower back), scouted a tattoo parlor and artist and picked out a design (feathers.) But here it is, the end of the year, and I still haven't gotten inked. This goes to the top of my 2012 to-do style list.
  5. Extensions – In 2011 I went short. Really short. Now I'm finding that I crave long hair, but it's brutal to try to grow out my hair again. I've been investigating professional extensions (the real human-hair kind) to go instantly long. I'll keep you updated…
  6. Spray Tan – I am outside a lot (live on a ranch) so most of my golden glow has been from the sun. I know, I know….so in 2012 I'm going to focus on getting my first spray tan to get golden year-round without ruining my skin.
  7. Over-the-knee boots – I'm crazy for over-the-knee boots. Not the shiny patent, "Pretty Woman" kind, but the sultry suede or soft leather kind that look great with leggings and tunics. These were on my must-buy list last year and I still haven't bought them.
  8. Airbrushed makeup – The flawless look of professionally applied air-brushed makeup is definitely something I want to try at least once this coming year. It won't be cheap, but for a special occasion (I have two seniors graduating this year, a class reunion and several other big events coming up) I think it would be fun. In the meantime, I'm loving my Dior AirFlash airbrushed makeup at home.
  9. 5 inch heels – Just once I'd like to try a pair of really high heels. I have some 4-inch wedges that I occasionally wear, but 5 inches? That's extreme and something I've always wanted to try.
  10. Zumba – I am pretty sure that I'm the only woman over 40 in the United States who hasn't tried Zumba. My workouts are fairly boring – walking, jogging, weights. So adding Zumba will be fun.

Good post, but I wouldn`t worry too much about not trying Botox. Those injections are expensive and can have some undesirable side effects. I would recommend looking into some natural alternatives. Skinsational is a resource for natural recipes that I highly recommend.
