Bangs -- like Elle Macpherson is wearing -- are a great way to radically change your look.

When was the last time you made a really big change to your look? Like went from brunette to blonde. Or traded your polo shirts for a leather jacket.

After a certain age, we sometimes settle in to a look that works for us. Our bodies have changed. And our lifestyles have often changed, too. Some of us have more free time, so our style reflects that.

But I think that regardless of our age, we should always be looking to present the best version of ourself. To some people that may mean just staying moderately updated. To others, that means radical plastic surgery.

Here are 5 simple ways to drastically change your look (no dieting required!):

  1. Change your glasses. If you wear little reading glasses perched on the end of your  nose, expect to look older than you really are. Same goes for outdated rimless plastic frames and other dated looks. New reading glasses can be youthful and fun (and cheap!)
  2. Cut some bangs. Something as simple as bangs can radically alter your entire look. Bangs are nature's Botox, covering up forehead wrinkles and bringing the focus to the eyes. They also change your face shape (which is a good thing if you want to draw the eye up away from problem neck areas.)
  3. Choose a new hair color. The single biggest impact to your look is your hair color. If you are more than 50% gray, going lighter makes maintenance easier. Find your perfect color with these expert hair color tips.
  4. Opt for slimming shapewear. You're not still wearing granny panties, are you? Shapewear is so good now, that it can make you look sleek and slim. Spanx are a favorite, but you may find that one of the biggest improvements you can make to your look is by wearing a camisole shaper. They make your bra work better (that's always a good thing) and get rid of tummy rolls.
  5. Buy new jeans. The right jeans will make everything you pair them with look amazing. So if you've loyally worn the same type of jeans for years (like mom jeans!), you're missing out on the great new technology that combines comfort with flattery. A good, dark denim jean with a boot cut is universally flattering. Look for jeans that will reshape your body like Not Your Daughter's Jeans or Wrangler's Booty Up Jeans.

Nothing more than someone telling people how to dress at a certain ages gets my blood boiling! Who are YOU to tell someone how to dress? Really? You have one life, and it goes by fast. You come in this world alone, you die alone, therefore, the person whom you should please is NUMBER 1 when it all comes down to it! YOURSELF!!! I'm not saying be selfish in a relationship, but you have to be happy with "you" first.I will wear ANYTHING that makes me feel good no matter what age I am at the time. I don't please society, I please myself. Thank god I had a mother who taught me to be me and to love me. Otherwise, I'd be a brainwashed sad individual, who'd pay attention to your "opinions" on "age appropriate fashion."
