Hugh Jackman started it.
The star of "Real Steel" was telling me his "beauty routine." Of course, he's a guy so we had to call it a health routine or sexy style secrets.
No matter the wording, what really matters is the fact that Hugh does something so simple and perfect that it does double duty. It's amazing for skincare and also a great health booster shot.
"I start my day by drinking half a liter of water and then drink some hot water with lemon.
"A friend of mine is a doctor and says that if everyone drank those two things then he might be out of a job," Hugh says.
In my 20 plus years of covering Hollywood, there is one given: Stars usually don't opt for the crazy, expensive products. Instead, they find the most natural, easy, often cheap ways, to look and feel gorgeous.
Here are 8 Ways to Get Hollywood Gorgeous for Cheap
*Drink to Detox. Almost every celeb, male and female, starts their day with hot or cool water with lemon. It's not just to avoid a caffeine rush. The lemon is a great way to start your day by detoxing your liver. Once you detox then your body will burn more calories and get rid of toxins in a much more efficient and cleaner way. Tip: Always use fresh lemons and not the processed lemon juice that comes in that little plastic bottle.
*Do a Quick 10. Jennifer Garner says she tricks herself to workout. "I tell myself, I will just do ten minutes on the treadmill and end up doing so much more," she insists. Why not wake up and decide to spend ten minutes walking or doing some light weights? Or jump on a machine or bike for ten minutes. It's just about starting.
*Eat to Sleep. Helen Mirren's best beauty secret. "Get your eight hours of sleep," she insists. You need to get your beauty sleep because this is the time when your body repairs itself. As we age, it's harder to fall asleep or stay asleep. A quick natural cure is to add some avocado to your diet. They contain beta-sitosterol, which lowers your production of cortisol, a stress hormone. Tip: Don't drink an hour before you go to bed to avoid getting up in the middle of the night for a quick bathroom trip…and then not being able to fall asleep again.
*Eat to Lower Blood Pressure. There are certain foods that do this naturally, and they're delish. A Harvard study shows that adults who eat at least one serving of blueberries a week are 10 percent less likely to develop high blood pressure. Tip: You can use blueberries in shakes you make with plain yogurt or milk with a little ice. It's a quick, easy way to get the berries in and you can grab a shake on the go.
*Eat for Your Brain. Another survey at Tufts University says to eat your blackberries because they contain polyphenols that reduce the inflammation that happens in the brain cells with age. When you decrease this inflammation, you will learn new information faster. Tip: Blackberries are amazing as dessert, but also fabulous in salads for a little sweetness.
*Eat from Nature. Most actresses I interview shun processed foods. Basically, if it comes in a bag or a box then don't buy it. If you can't pronounce the ingredients don't buy it. Your body processes natural foods much easier. Tip: Don't use artificial sweeteners – period. Sweeten your foods with natural agave syrup.
*Wear Makeup. A new study from Spain shows that wearing makeup will amp up your energy. When your mood is lifted from looking pretty, it will increase your hormone production that gives you that zap of energy. Tip: Go to Chanel or Dior and find your perfect red lipstick by asking the makeup artist. It's an instant va-va-voom moment.
*Do One Yoga Move. "I start each day with a downward dog. It helps get your blood circulating," says author and actress Lydia Cornell. "It's a great way to get the blood flowing to your head. Tip: Another favorite tip from Lydia is to rub your chin. "I rub around my chin and jaw with some pressure because this area doesn't get enough circulation," she says. "It's great to rub with a little Vaseline in your hands or even a cocoa butter stick."
