Ali Wentworth guest stars on "Cougar Town" tonight. She shares her easy beauty tips and news on her new book about women in midlife.

Ali Wentworth has a confession when it comes to her beauty regime. She's a copycat.

"I'm the girl who buys any cream that Gwyneth Paltrow says is great," says the author and actress who guest stars on "Cougar Town" tonight.

"I have half used creams all over my bathroom!" she cries.

Ali, 48 and the author of the best seller "Ali in Wonderland," doesn't really have time to fret.

She hosts her own daily Yahoo show called "The Daily Shot with Ali Wentworth."

The actress and comedienne is also the wife of "GMA" host George Stephanopoulous and mom to their two daughters, Elliott, 10 and Harper, 7.

Tonight, she has a guest stint on "Cougar Town," but more on that in a moment.

We're not finished with her beauty secrets.

EASY BEAUTY TIPS

"Maybe this helps," Ali says. "I don't spend a great amount of time worrying about this stuff.

"I wish I did spend more time shaving my legs and plucking my eyebrows," she says. "The problem is I keep getting caught up in the other things in life."

She does have one disclaimer.

"If you spoke to George, you'd get another story," Ali says.

She does have a great anti-aging secret that all women can adopt…today.

"I feel a lot of it is being young in your head," she says.

With a laugh, she adds, "That's why I dress like a college student and I'm very immature."

"Other than that, my Mom looks great. Thank God for good genes," she says.

ALI ON "COUGAR TOWN"

Her look "Cougar Town" tonight is definitely NOT her daily everyday go-to style.

"I play a gold digging hussy," she says. "She's going after a guy for his money, so I played her like something out of 'The Housewives of Atlanta.'

"I got a lot of extensions in my hair and went for a lot of tan," she previews. "I also have boobs up to my chin.

"I figured that if you're a gold digger, you have to zoozsh it up a bit."

Ali says she didn't research gold diggers.

"I don't research this stuff. I like to use my fantasy life," she says. "The story takes place in Florida. It's easy to figure out what a 40-year-old gold digger would look like? Any of the housewives give you a slight idea of what you can play."

She jumped at the offer to be on the show.

"I said, 'Absolutely, I'll come to LA for a week and wear a padded bra," she says.

Ali has already been invited back to do another appearance on "Cougar Town."

"I'd love to come back," she says. "The nice thing is that they let me improvise a lot. When you have that freedom, you can physically create a character and make her say the most wonderful things."

Ali had made appearances in films including "Jerry Maguire," "Office Space" and "It's Complicated."

She was also a cast member on the Fox series "In Living Color" where she did impressions of Cher, Amy Fisher, Hillary Clinton and Princess Diana.

She played Jerry's girlfriend Shelia "Schmoopie" on "Seinfield."

A BOOK ON WOMEN IN MIDLIFE

She's writing a book that is perfect for midlifers.

"My new book is about the perspective of a middle aged woman. It's about kids, husbands, plastic surgery, sex and everything else I'm wondering about at my age," she says.

Her writing role model "I've always admired Nora Ephron," she says.

She loves the process of writing.

"I like the control of it," Ali says. "I'm an actor and I love saying other people's words, but I also love my own words. There is a control with writing that you don't have as an actor.

"I like to use description my way," she says. "I think my words are unique. I even like to make up words."

Her kids love that, too. Ali met George on a blind date in 2001 and they were engaged two months later. They were married on Nov. 20, 2001. Now, she's a busy working mom to daughters, Elliott, 10 and Harper, 7.

There has been talk of her own series, but Ali says that's complicated with her family life.

"I like to live in New York and my husband George anchors GMA," she says. "My life with kids works well on the east coast.

"As much as I'd love it, if I did a series in LA I'd be single," she jokes. "And it's no fun to be single if you're a middle-aged housewife!"

That's why a guest stint like on "Cougar Town" is perfect.

"It's the perfect amount for me," she says. "I'd also like to make out with James Franco in a movie.

"See if you can make that happen," she begs.
