You could be one of the millions of people who are making a list and checking it twice – a list of New Year's resolutions, that is. This year, be your own beauty advisor with some resolutions that could easily help you shave years off your look with simple reminders such as get more beauty sleep, exercise, change up your look with new makeup styles and more.
Beauty Resolutions
There are simple ways to amp up your beauty and style quotient that could see you through the whole year and they won't cost an arm or a leg. In fact, most of them are free!
Beauty Sleep
They call it beauty rest for a reason! Our bodies aren't just unmoving lumps when we're sleeping. They're actually busy "tuning up" and balancing our hormones. We've all heard seven to eight hours is the "magic" number, but did you know that if you sleep more than nine hours a night it could be a sign of depression? Ask your doctor about getting optimal sleep.
New Makeup Styles
Are you still wearing the same makeup you started with in high school? Take a trip to the mall and book a free consultation with any of the talented makeup artists at the cosmetics counters. They're happy to show you new, age-appropriate ideas to spark your style and bring back the "fresh face" in your look.
New Exercise
If you're still doing the old style of exercise we've come to know as "aerobics," here's great news: experts are finding out that it takes only 12 minutes a day to achieve the proper exercise for a healthy heart and weight control. No more spending an hour a day in the gym sweating it out. Start the new year with a new way to work out and a slimmer you.
New Attitude
According to WebMD.com, 75 to 90 percent of all doctors' office visits are due to stress-related ailments and complaints. Stress also shows on our faces. It ages us and makes us sick, there's no doubt about it. Make a resolution to "change your mind" and adopt a new attitude toward the stresses in your life. One of my favorite sayings when I feel overwhelmed with stress and worry is, "90 percent of everything I worry about never happens." Another quick idea is to search the Internet for funny videos, photos, jokes or whatever makes you laugh. Studies have shown that even if you fake a smile, you can make yourself happier. After all, laughter is the best medicine, right?
