When Anne Hathaway chopped her hair to play her now Golden Globe-nominated performance of Fantine in Les Misérables, she was pretty much forced to grow it out to one of the hot current hairstyles, the pixie.
Little did she know that such a short do' could be such a diverse cut.
That's the thing about the pixie cut, a great short hairstyle for straight hair: it's more versatile than you may think.
Just note these three pictures, which were taken within one day of each other.
- The far left with a sleek, side-gelled look is dramatic and edgy, and well, a little bit plastered for us folks off of the red carpet.
- The middle picture of Anne Hathaway with a bangs-less style is one of the trendy hairstyles we see on lots of celebs these days, and brings focus to the forehead and opens up the face.
- The far right is the style to aim for if you're over 40. Why? It's the softest look that plays up the layers with a slight touch of volume. Incorporating the bangs on the forehead both reduces the appearance of wrinkles and gently introduces us to the face.
