It's not always easy finding age appropriate dresses for tall women, especially styles for women over 50.
But Jane Lynch's bondage-style gown at the SAG Awards drew widespread criticism from fashion types as being too young.
Clothes for older women – especially red carpet or formal gowns – can be a tricky thing. On the one hand, it's easy to cover up too much (long sleeves, full ballskirt) and look too matronly.
On the flip side, women over 50 are sometimes criticized when they try something new or edgy.
In the case of Jane Lynch's David Meister gown, it wasn't so much a case of looking too young, it was just a really unflattering look on her.
It had entirely too much going on with the bodice and the strappy bondage and studs look — combined with a fit that wasn't very flattering – made her look larger and ganglier than she really is.
At just 52, Jane Lynch certainly isn't too old to wear leather or even studs. But when it comes to great-looking dresses for tall women, this wasn't a winner.
