All over the Internet, iVillage has been quoted as calling false eyelashes "the Wonderbra of eye makeup."
And you know, it's true.
Just take a look at any actress on TV (all the women on ABC's Private Practice, for instance), the red carpet, news anchors such as Diane Sawyer and Katie Couric, and you rarely see Oprah or Michelle Obama without their extra lashes.
You might be ready to hang up your Wonderbra, but don't give up on false lashes just yet. Looking like the Kardashians may not be a goal, but their tip #5 here has some merit.
Mascara has come a long way – although all those ads are of mascara on false lashes, and of course, there's Latisse to grow your own lashes to longer lengths.
But for a fast fix, like tonight (or maybe Valentine's Day) Kiss Premuium Lashes has finally come up with an easier weay to put on false eyelashes. (Mary Schook attempted to teach me here how to do it with ease; I pretty much failed).
The secret? Red strings.
The strings are easy to use, and even better—easier to handle.
-Pull the lash off the package with your thumb so you don't damage it.
-Apply the glue and wait till it gets a little tacky (it starts to get clear). Then hold it by the strings on either side, placing the lash on your own eyelash line using the strings.
-Press into place, let the glue dry, then gently remove and release the strings. Success!
I recommend a magnifying mirror – there are ones with little suction cups at the drugstore that will stick right on your bathroom mirror.
I also recommend doing a dry run before a big event (like a wedding), big night, big date, if you're looking to add a little extra drama (although I saw women at a law office wearing them, so perhaps the workplace too). You also might need to get used to the feeling of having them on—it's little weird at first.
Choose wisely – there are a 9 styles– I like 2 and 3 the best for a more natural look. This video offers a helpful visual as to how to apply them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXP1wrU7vOA
The only downside is that the strings are only good for a one-time application, ahlthough you can use the lashes over again. But at about $3.99 per set, maybe you can afford to experiment.
Now that they're so easy, you mighyt find yourself batting your lashes more often.
Kiss Premium Eyelashes with patent pending Application Strings – about $3.99 at CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and similar outlets nationwide.
