I'm not sure about you, but I'm in countdown mode. There's nothing like the promise of a Hollywood red carpet packed with packs of stars to get my heart pumping.

Four words make my heart sing during awards season: Who are you wearing?

The Emmy Awards this weekend promise to be an amazing mix of A-list celebs, dazzling gowns, old-school glamour and chic fall trends. Expect to see color blocking, bright dresses and the always pound inhibiting black to-die-for gowns.

Personally, I can't wait to see Jane Lynch go glam and get out of those tracksuits and into some sequined evening wear. Get ready for some dazzle from Kate Winslet, Diane Lane, Julianna Margulies, and Mariska Hargitay.

There's something about an awards show that's contagious. Even if you're sitting in front of your flat screen in something less than Armani, Calvin Klein or Vera Wang, it's a wake up call to add a touch of glamour to your own life.

No, you're not going to don Badgley Mischka to go to work on Monday. But there are a few beauty routines that you can consider to add some Hollywood glow.

*EMMY MORNING:Make sure you get up and take a long walk. Debra Messing tells me she always exercises on award show days. "It's a great way to de-stress, plus you get a healthy glow that you can't find in any makeup bottle." In other words, you'll be sitting a lot during the red carpet and awards. Get the blood pumping before you park it on the couch.

*PRE-SHOW:Kyra Sedgwick says that not eating is the worst thing you can do before a big event. "You need a little protein to keep going when you know you're going to have a long day." To that end, try a favorite dish that the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills will be delivering as room service breakfast: Crack three eggs, using the whites of two and the yellow and white of the third. Whip into a frenzy. Add cut up asparagus, tomatoes and mushrooms. Cook in a nonstick pan. When the eggs are done top with some crumbled feta or a smear of goat cheese. Filling and delish!

*PRE-RED CARPET:I adore watching Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet, but let's face it. It's boring to watch the first 15 minutes of the show where basically the guy who made the cake for the dinner after the awards is being interviewed. Slip away to try this beauty tip from Hollywood skin care guru Kate Somerville: Cut a large strawberry in half. Get out a fork and pierce a few holes in the juicy part of the berry. Now, rub this over the offending spots. "You have to do this over and over again, but it works," she promises.

*FIRST HEART PALPATATION OF THE SHOW:In love with Jon Hamm? Before you see him grace the carpet, there is plenty of time to deal with your future photo ops. To that end have a few crackers with peanut butter. Michael F. Roizen, M.D. and coauthor with Dr. Oz of "You: Staying Young" says that 1 to 2 tablespoons of sugar free peanut butter daily stops wrinkling. The essential fatty acids in the nutty treat keep your skin smooth, elastic and resilient.

*FIRST COMMERCIAL BREAK:Sitting on the couch watching Best Supporting Actress and marveling on how young and beautiful those presenters are who hand the trophies to the winners? Get out a pair of rubber gloves. Before you put them on put a layer of Vaseline on your hands and then put the gloves on. Leave them on for the duration of the show or even sleep in them. This is a great, cheap way to prevent your hands from aging. Do this often.

*HALFWAY POINT IN THE SHOW:Get up. Stretch. Walk the dog. You won't miss Tina Fey's category. If you feel like a beauty boost do a little mist. By now your skin might feel sort of dry and tired from watching TV. Try Avene Thermal spring water as a misting treat for $7.

*STAYED UP TOO LATE:Yes, you needed to know if Steve Carell finally wins an Emmy for playing Michael Scott. But now it's late and and you don't want to have puffy eyes in the morning. To prevent that from happening, elevate your head with a second pillow. It's an easy way to prevent fluids from being trapped under your eyes.
