Sometimes it's a detail like a bow. Other times it's the print. And still other times the thing that pulls together a great look for fashion over 50 is the total package.

These 10 celebrities all have very different styles, but each manage to look age-appropriate, fresh and modern (and all for very different reasons.)

  1. Christie Brinkley in navy dress –  In a fitted navy dress with long wavy blonde hair, Christie Brinkley looked about half her natural age.
  2. Iman in nude-colored gown  — 56-year-old Iman still looks like a supermodel and showed off her figure in a nude-colored gown and soft long hair.
  3. Elizabeth McGovern in bright blue — This 50-something actress took a cardigan and made it look updated and youthful (not an easy task.)
  4. Josie Natori in shift dress -- Josie Natori looks elegant and chic in a bold necklace and simple dress (mostly likely one of her own designs.
  5. Kristin Scott Thomas in black gown  — Kristin adds in a dose of effortless chic by wearing natural looking hair and makeup with a super glam black gown.
  6. Madonna in butterfly print dress — This pretty print dress was right-on for the 50-something pop icon.
  7. Sela Ward's boho look —   From her long shag to her layered necklaces, this gorgeous 50-something actress has a relaxed look that's enviable.
  8. Allison Janney in strapless floral -  — She looks sexy, but youthful in a strapless floral dress that's the perfect length.
  9. Julianne Moore in Mad-men style suit  — The oversized bow makes this classic suit pop for Julianne Moore (who is one of our most adventurous dressers.)
  10. Roseanne Barr's hair feathers  Roseanne Barr rocked long gray hair filled with natural-colored hair feathers this summer at the height of their popularity.
