If you keep up with the latest fashion trends, you may notice lots of women wearing dresses with bare legs and boots.

It's a great look, and one that can work for women our age if you follow a few styling tips.

One fashion tip I will give you is that if you want to rock this look, you need to make sure that you use two style tricks: proportion and camouflage to your advantage.

By proportion, I mean choosing a length of dress and height of boot that are the most flattering to your body. Do you have short, thick legs? Then giving just a few inches of bare legs between the hem of a dress and the top of your boots only breaks your line: it makes you look shorter and heavier.

On the other hand, if you are tall and skinny, wearing ankle boots with miles of bare legs and a short skirt can sometimes make you look too gangly.

The idea here is to choose the right amount of leg to show. And make sure the boot doesn't stop at your heaviest part (which his mid-calf for most of us.) By choosing a really tall boot, Anna Wintour (left pic) takes the boot up to just below the knee, a slim part on most of us. It's just a peek of bare leg, but still sexy and fashion forward.

On the right, Megan Meany makes the boot look work even though the boot stops at a heavier part of her leg; overall it works because the skirt hem ends above the knee (slim part of the leg.)

This is one of those fashion trends you will just need to experiment with to make it work for you. And remember: if in doubt, just add black tights for a look that's sure to flatter anyone.
