Short hair keeps you cool for summer.

Fantastic hair is a huge confidence-booster and short hair is perfect for a cool summer look, but how do you choose the right hairstyles for short hair?

Hair trend experts report that natural hair is the biggest hair trend of 2012. People are giving hair a break from relaxers and treatments and are going back to their roots. For those who still want to color, blonds and golds are this year's most popular hues, replacing last year's reds and coppers.

Whether you let your natural silver take over or you choose to continue coloring, for healthy, natural hair it's all about maintenance. Even short hairstyles need a good rehydrating shampoo (especially if using hair color) and conditioner, such as a leave-in conditioner to tame frizzes that result from summer's humid days. These help to soften and detangle natural hair and to make it more manageable.

Which Short Style Works For Your Face Shape?

If you have an oval face, you can wear pretty much any hairstyles for short hair, but avoid covering too much of your face. Oval faces look great with slicked-back hair.

Round faces could tend to look chubby with the wrong hairstyle, so adding a bit of height at the top could elongate the roundness. Chin-length hair could make a round face look even rounder.

Chin-length hair looks great on heart-shaped faces, however, so if your face is wider at the eyes and narrows at the chin, try a cute chin-length bob with wispy bangs.

Triangular faces look great with hair tucked behind the ears, drawing attention to your eyes.

Short hairstyles in general are excellent for people with long faces - long hair tends to accentuate a long face, whereas short hairstyles without too much height on top can balance out a long face.

For square faces, a cute bob is perfect, but it should end above or below the jaw line to soften a square jaw.
