Susan Sarandon sports short pigtails to serve meals for the New York City Rescue Mission's 'Great Thanksgiving Banquet'.

When are children's hair styles good for grownups? In the case of pigtails, when food is being served is a very opportune time.

Susan Sarandon wore her hair in adorable little pigtails when she was handing out holiday meals during the New York City Rescue Mission's 12th annual Great Thanksgiving Banquet at the Downtown Community Television Center.

Pigtails are a smart hairstyle because you can wear your hair down around your neck and still contained, with less chance of it getting into the food being served.

Actually it's a great hair style option for the chef/cook, with the added benefit of giving you Great Gatsby style waves when you take the pigtails out before joining the table for the meal.

Sarandon's been having fun with her hairstyles lately, recently donning a purple wig for an event.

Why not have a little fun with your hairstyle too? Anything is in style when it's for a good cause.

Susan looked so cute! Plus she was doing a great thing by helping at the Mission. I think she is beautiful and I try to wear my hair and make-up like Ms. Sarandon. She is giving herself to others to help, I am so impressed!
