Sometimes beauty is just a happy accident. And if you're like most women you've amassed a modest, if not a massive, nail polish collection.
I was trying to decide what color to choose for a holiday manicure, and maybe which ones to give away. So I thought I'd put similar hues next to each other to see which one looked best – two shades of putty, two cranberrys, dark and light; 4 metallic grays, two golds…
Of the two puttys – Zoya Pasha and Essie Don't Sweater It – I liked the former better but thought the darker one would make a great pedicure.
I liked both the cranberrys — Essie Masquerade Belle and Dashing Diva Black Raspberry – better than I thought I would.
The metallic silvers, starting with Moonraker from the James Bond collection I talked about the other day, all looked completely different on but also great next to each other (right side hand).
By the time I got to the golden thumbs, I decided I liked the look as it was. Fun. Festive. Fresh. It makes a great holiday manicure.
Tip: Because I wasn't just testing, I didn't worry about making to perfect, and so of course, it came out perfectly (it looks much better in person, sadly the picture doesn't do it justice!). The Cutex pen works wonderfully for quick fixes on minor mistakes.
Are you tempted to try a "colorblock" holiday manicure?
