Face it: Most of us need some type of reading glasses at this age.
But who says that our reading glasses have to make us look old?
Just look at the transformation of Annette Bening when she switched from dated wire-framed glasses to chunkier frames recently. Her wire frames didn't give her face definition, but the bold black pair beautifully frame her face.
Now, nerd glasses may not be for you, but you can still choose from many styles of reading glasses that are updated (and inexpensive.)
The newest glasses are much more substantial – the lenses are bigger and the frames are darker and thicker: even reading glasses don't look like reading glasses.
And if you think black frames are too harsh for you, try tortoiseshell which will still give you that bookish vibe that looks so current without being overwhelming.
If you want something a little funkier than just plain frames, take a style cue from Katie Couric and buy a cute (and affordable) pair of Eyebobs which come in mixed-media type frames.
