Close your eyes for a moment…after you read the following paragraph.
Imagine that you're at an amazing spa, lounging in one of those plush robes, sipping mineral water and waiting for your facial and soak.
All together now: "Ahhhhh."
Is it even legal to have these thoughts during the harried holiday season?
I'm not sure about you, but I'm starting to feel the rush-rush of the holiday season. My to-do list seems to get longer and the days rush by even faster.
Why not buy yourself the ultimate holiday treat: A quick spa visit. If you can't make it to a spa, I understand. That's why in the next few weeks I'm going to ask the best spas around the country for their favorite do it yourself spa recipes you can try at home, which is as close as we can get to being there during hectic times. (Got a problem area? Write me below and I'll ask them for a DIY fix.)
If you can't make an appointment for a facial or scrub, you can certainly lock yourself in the bathroom for a faux spa visit that will keep your skin looking younger and glowing during the season.
One of the great spas is the Mirbeau Inn & Spa in Skaneateles, New York. They offer a customized wellness experience with unique spa services to provide balance, soothe stress and instill tranquility. (Let's get on a plane right now!).
They even offer "vinotherapy," which combines unique aromatherapy scents with the hydrating and nourishing benefits of wine essences. Again, I'm in!

Looking Younger for the Holidays: Lips and Exfoliation DIY Beauty Recipes from Elite Spas
Q: What's the one thing women should do to keep their skin healthy during the busy holiday season?
A: "Exfoliating on a regular basis is an important step in maintaining healthy, glowing skin – especially during the winter months, when skin tends to be dehydrated. The process of exfoliation eliminates dry, dead cells that leave the skin looking tired and dull. It's important to exfoliate on a weekly basis to encourage cell renewal and increase luminosity and circulation. It also allows proper absorption of skincare products.
Q: Can you share one of your favorite DIY home exfoliations? What one area is often overlooked by midlifers?
A: "Lips are one area that tend to become very dry and cracked this time of the year. I have a favorite at home remedy that's quick, easy and natural."
THE RECIPE
Step 1 - Mix 1 teaspoon of 100% Pure Raw Honey
Step 2 - Add 2 teaspoons of sugar. Mix Well.
Step 3 - Apply a generous amount to lips, massage for one minute and rinse
Q: Why does this work?
A: Honey works as a natural humectant while the sugar provides gentle exfoliation and the massaging action will naturally leave your lips feeling plump. You will be left with super smooth and intensely hydrated lips!"
