Organic Cosmetics Are Like Beauty Food For Your Skin

Cosmetics brands are creating more organic makeup.

The trend in many industries is turning toward more natural ingredients and the beauty industry is no exception - organic cosmetics are becoming more popular and more readily available. Some companies are even combining ingredients so the makeup multitasks, offering skin improvement benefits - like beauty food for your skin.

One company, Jing Ai, is quickly making a name for itself in the organic beauty arena. "Jing Ai, which means pure love in Mandarin Chinese, is a luxurious, eco-friendly cosmetics collection that combines healthy-yet-gorgeous makeup with the sustainable packaging that eco-conscious consumers desire," says founder and creator Donna Cristino.

Jing Ai cosmetics are formulated with a proprietary blend of pure, certified-organic ingredients such as champagne grapes from California's Napa Valley (for their antioxidant/anti-inflammatory/anti-aging properties) and wild roses from Brazil (for their rich multivitamins, Omega 3s and Omega 6s that are said to heal and regenerate the skin).

Cristino was motivated to create the line by her desire for safe, organic cosmetics. "I had been having concerns about the chemicals and compounds in makeup. That, plus the death of my grandmother from breast cancer motivated me to look for safe, organic cosmetics I could feel good about - but there weren't any out there that felt luxurious and glamorous enough," explains Cristino. So, she created her own!

Other cosmetics brands are following suit, including Pure Radiance, making its mark with a unique line of mineral makeup, Pure Essentials. Women love mineral makeup, especially those women with sensitive skin. But beware - not all mineral makeup is created equal.

"Just because it says 'mineral' on the package doesn't mean it's good for your skin. While you're trying to cover up wrinkles or imperfections, the hidden chemicals in your makeup could be working against you, explains Nurse Practitioner Kamila Fiore, ARNP, NP-C. "In fact, some hardly contain any healthy minerals at all and they've got dangerous additives that can irritate your skin and clog your pores. They can even make you look older," she adds.

That's why Pure Essentials Mineral Makeup contains no parabens, no preservatives, no fragrances, no petroleum products, no waxes to clog pores and no micronized minerals, making it gentle enough for sensitive or acne-prone skin.

When you're ready to remove your makeup at the end of the day, opt for a natural product such as Physicians Formula Organic Wear 100% Natural Origin Makeup Remover Towelettes. The Towelettes are made of 100 percent natural ingredients that easily remove makeup as well as cleanse the face.
