If 50 is the new 40, 40 may be the new 50 as well. What I mean is that 50 has always been the big milestone marker to commemorate. But on the newly launched website, OFF, or over40females.com, the celebration starts a decade sooner.
Founder Judy Goss, a former editor at More magazine, said at the launch party recently that she noticed a networking need for women in this age bracket and decided to help foster that camaraderie.
And camaraderie there was — women of all age groups really, sharing stories over sips of wine. But I have to say, the 40-somethings really looked like 30-somethings. So I wonder if that means the 50-somethings look like 40-somethings. OK, I'll stop now.
Also on the site, among experts and blog entries, are some segments of Goss herself, one where she interviews former First Lady Laura Bush. But things really get interesting when she elicits some valuable advice from writer/director Nora Ephron, who told her
every 10 years is a good period of time to reinvent yourself," and she thinks that women are better at it than men!
Stay tuned to the segment to hear what some women would have done differently — I agreed with quite a few of them.
So, you go, Goss. But, if someone starts a site for over 25-year-olds. Well, I am. But I'm not going there. I'm just sayin'.
