You could be a designer. Or just play one on the internet.
With the hot new social website,
Pinterest.com you can create inspiration boards just like designers do.
The beauty of this fabulous site is that you simply "pin" images of things you like and file them onto a "board" of your choice.
Pinterest is still invitation only, but you can request an invite to join the site for free.
To show you how it works, I create a "board" of
Little Black Dresses for Over 40. Each photo has a short description that I wrote and links off to the original website where I found it.
I haven't been on Pinterest too long, but have already created boards called "Stuff I want to cook" — where I pin pics & links to recipes I like the looks of, "Houses I love" (ha! there's a $20 million stunner in there), Spring 2012, which are things I've found in the course of my online shopping and Rodeo Queen Stuff, where I stash pics of dresses I like for my girls, who are both rodeo queens.
You can also pin videos on Pinterest, so I created one based on funny ads that I can across on YouTube.
I've read that the biggest users of Pinterest are women in their 20s and 30s and that one of the most popular applications of Pinterest is creating a wedding board.
That's a great use for Pinterest, but I think there's just as much validity for our age group, including redecorating ideas, places to visit, places to retire, etc.
If you've created a Pinterest board you think you'd like to share with the Style Goes Strong group, place the URL in the blog comments. Pin away!
