Long black dresses were a huge theme at the 2013 SAG Awards, but Sigourney Weaver's black evening dress was a definite dud.
How do you ruin something so seemingly foolproof as a women's black dress?
Actually, it's all as simple as proportion and fit. And 60-something Sigourney Weaver's lacked both.
The long satin dress had a boxy, unflattering fit. And the shapeless dress was made of satin which simply magnified the problem with too much drape and fabric on the bodice.
Sigourney (she's 6'0) can carry off lots of looks thanks to her height. She's frequently photographed on the red carpet in red, which looks amazing with her coloring.
The dress also suffered from side ruffles on the bodice which made her shoulders look even broader and a high-low hem with a full skirt: this black evening dress was simply too much look even for statuesque Sigourney.
