Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of Eileen Davidson's life.
The soap star, however, doesn't look like many days have passed since she left "Days of Our Lives" 14 years old.
Now, she's back and I had to ask what's on all of our minds. No, not what's going on with her character Kristen. There is time for that in a moment.
I wanted her beauty secrets!
"My best beauty secret is I workout just about every day – one-way or the other," Eileen says. "I get on that elliptical and I do something called TRX, which is basically core body work with using your own body weight and a pulley system at the gym.
"Working out is the best de-aging secret," she shares.
EILEEN DAVIDSON'S SKIN CARE TIPS AND BEST BEAUTY TIPS
It's clear that Davidson is a beauty from the inside out type of woman.
She says that changing her eating routine has also been a beauty secret weapon. "I don't eat meat anymore. I eat fish now," she says. "That has happened organically over time.
"Other than that, I just try to live a pretty healthy lifestyle," she says.
Her flawless skin is courtesy of a company that she believes in.
On the beauty front, Davidson is the spokesperson for Nubrillance Microdermabrasion Skincare System and also a spokesperson for Elizabeth Arden's skincare product "Prevage."
"I do use my microdermabrasion machine. It's been amazing," she says. "It doesn't take long to take a few steps to really take good care of yourself."
HER RETURN TO "DAYS OF OUR LIVES"
She has returned to "Days" after a 14-year hiatus.
But she's back as trying-to-get-her-life-together Kristen DiMera. Davidson even made TV history for playing five characters back in 1998. Davidson is also an alum of "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful."
As for returning to days, she says, "When Jim Reilly was heading it up, the show was pretty crazy. I was doing five characters at the time, so it was quite different for me then.
"It was a breath of fresh air coming back to 'Days.' Everybody was wonderful and I saw a lot of old faces and old friends. Wait..old faces! I didn't mean it that way," she says with a laugh.
"I mean old friends and past faces," she says.
"Returning has been really great. I've had a great time and I'm actually having so much fun this time. I never anticipated having such a great time," she says.
These days her character Kristen is working at a church. "She's trying to redeem herself with Salem and she's trying to convince everybody that she's changed," she previews.
"She's had tons of therapy, and she wants to make amends and show she is a better person. So what better way to do that then to work in a church?" she poses.
Was it easy to slip back into this character?
"I've certainly changed. I think everybody has changed in 14 years, right?" she says. "So, Kristen's definitely a different woman. She's been through so much in her life," she says. "And she wasn't in the best place the last time we saw her."
"I think she's probably more mature and more together and definitely ready for a brand new start," she says.
DOING LOVE SCENES …AS A MIDLIFER
All that working out and skin care makes screen love scenes a lot easier.
"I still do think that love scenes are incredibly nerve wracking," Davidson admits. "Whether you're doing them with someone you've worked with before or somebody who is brand new, you're in a very intimate situation with 50 people watching you."
"You have to be so careful with how you're being shot, and what it looks like, and is it this and is it that, and it's nerve-wracking!
"I never get over how nerve-wracking it is!" she cries.
Much easier is working with old pal Deidre Hall again.
"We've been having a really, really good time," she says. "It's even better than the first time even though the first time was such a hoot, too.
"There is just all the history between these two women and this kind of dynamic between them," she says.
"Her character Marlena kind of knows Kristen in a way that nobody else does," she says. "It has so many layers and different components to it.
"Deidre and I laugh a lot."
LIFE AT HOME IS ALSO BEAUTIFUL
In her spare time, Davidson paints, plays guitar and even surfs with her husband Vincent Van Patten, host of The World Poker Tour. She's a mom to 9-year-old Jesse and step-mom to 19-year-old Duke and 17-year-old Vinny.
Ask her the secret to a lasting marriage and she laughs.
"This is my third. Are you sure you want to ask me that?"
We're sure.
"We're going on 10 years now and we've been together for 12," she says. "We're just happy. We make each other laugh and we realize that we're going to go through bumps. That doesn't mean it's going to end when you go through the hard times or bad times.
"The bumps are part of the tapestry of a very strong marriage," she says.
The do agree to disagree on what goes on the TIVO. "I'm a big fan of The Voice," she says. "I love 'Modern Family' and even 'Chopped.'
"I'm a closet foodie!" she says.
"And I do got some of the Real Housewives on my Tivo. Okay, I do. I admit it," she cries.
