Too Old for Vajazzling?

Just when you thought you'd heard it all...

If you haven't heard of vajazzling, I'll share with you the most memorable beauty fad to come along in ages. You see, vajazzling is basically gluing crystals on your nether regions. And you thought body piercing sounded bizarre.

Vajazzling hasn't exactly caught on fire in the mainstream, even though Jennifer Love Hewitt shared with the whole world her affinity for adorning her lady parts with crystals.

Since JLH's vajazzling confession, other celebrities have come out in support of vajazzling. The Kardashian sisters and Snooki ("Jersey Shore") are some of the less-than-A-list stars who have also admitted to vajazzling. Of course these are all younger celebs.

The only evidence I could find of vajazzling over 50 was Kathy Griffin who fessed up to vajazzling on George Lopez. Surely she's not the only middle-age celebrity who dabbles in secret body art, but it's not exactly an easy trend to quantify.

Unlike publically displayed trends (blue nail polish, miniskirts, etc.) vajazzling is something young and trendy that you (hopefully) won't share with many people. It's kind of like the body art equivalent of wearing sexy lingerie under a severe business suit.

So what do you think of vajazzling? Is this something you'd try or do you think you're too old for it?

Personally, I think I'll pass. And maybe wait for someone to kick off a trend I could really use, perhaps vascrapping. Then I'd have a way to make good use of all that random scrapbook stuff that's piled up over the years.

I didn't believe this was real the first time I heard about it. I understand wanting to feel sexy but this just seems like a pointless effort. I don't think it's something my husband would appreciate either. I'd be worried about the crystals dislodging all the time.

If a woman wants to decorate her body in whatever area that amuses her, then I think that's awesome....more power to her, no matter what her age. I certainly hope we are passed those archaic times when women did things only to get the attention of men. Life is too short to worry about what men think, or what social pressures dictate. People really need to loosen up and just let others enjoy themselves. It's fashion...it's suppose to be fun. Life is far too serious as it is.

American women create odd ways to decorate themselves - for each other - do you think men really notice or actually care about any of this vajazzle stuff? Good grooming, well fitting and attractive clothes, subtle make-up and hair all go a long way...but women love to go "the extra mile" with hair/makeup/clothing/fads, etc. and it is just to "out do" other women. Guys don't really care beyond personality, decent looks, and accessibility (to be polite)!!!

Vajazzing. I can't imagine how desperate people are to put Swarovski crystals on their south-of-the-border areas. How many people really view THAT? JLH even said "It looks like a disco ball down there." I think if I vajazzled my vajayjay, I'd probably consider the possibility that I'd hit rock bottom and needed to seek therapy. At that point, an unsparkly punani should definitely be the least of my concerns.
