Don't: Overdo It

Hot roller hair and frou frou gown? A great prom look circa 1980s, but not so fresh on 50-something Mary Hart.

How to Avoid This Look: Keep your hair and makeup up to date by adapting to trends that are age appropriate. Curly hair is fine, but the most modern curls look natural, not set and sprayed like Mary's. And if you choose an elaborate dress, opt for a sleek ponytail to offset the poofy outfit.
