Early this morning, my friend Vickie called me with a perplexing problem.
She asked, "What do you get a friend who is a fashionista and literally has it all? Her closet is filled with Louis Vuitton, Chanel, and Prada. Now it's her birthday and what could you possibly buy for her?"
You've come to the right place.
Here at StyleGoesStrong our mission is to help you solve your most worrisome fashion questions that are keeping you up at night and causing fine lines and wrinkles to form.
Just because your friend already has it all doesn't mean there isn't more to buy. No, you (probably) can't buy her a ticket to Paris to roam the streets in a quest to buy more couture – or snag her a front row seat at Fashion Week.
You can put a smile on your favorite fashionista's face with thoughtful gifts that say that you're really listening to her inner gift receiving needs.
Why don't your try the following gifts for your favorite fashionista or beauty aficionado:
*Movie Gift Package. Stock her up on movies about fashion queens including "The Devil Wears Prada" with the deliciously nasty (in this role) Meryl Streep or "The September Issue" about the inner workings at Vogue Magazine. If she likes fashion drama (and who doesn't) then buy her a biopic of none other than Coco Chanel called "Coco Before Chanel" (2009) starring Audrey Tautou. It's the story of Coco Chanel's climb from obscurity to the heights of the fashion world.
*Beauty Blitz. There's nothing nicer than getting a basket filled with interesting beauty products especially for the bath. If you head over to Whole Foods, there are a wide array of under $10 soaps including ones filled with nourishing shea butter, goat's milk and detoxing sea salts and mud. A nice booster shot in the morning is Whole Foods Organic Castile Soap Peppermint. Or try Kiss My face Cardamom Mint Self Foaming Soap. Try Alaffia Shea & Coffee Café au Lait Goat Milk Soap. The coffee in it exfoliates while the handmade goat milk moisturizes. Stock up on 'em and remember to buy yourself a few bars, too, for your toils.
*Guilty Pleasure Gifts. You know her weaknesses when it comes to guilty pleasures. Was she a big "Dynasty" fan. Buy her a few seasons on DVD of Alexis in those big, boxy shoulder pads. There's nothing that ends a day nicer than watching a vintage catfight in the mud. "Knots Landing" DVDs are also a nice guilty gift – something you would never buy for yourself, but love it as a present. Yes, you can add Danielle Steel book if you know that it's her weakness. A little vintage, retro bodice ripping on the page can be fun, too.
*Book 'Em. Even Rachel Zoe recommends the new book "IMPACT: 50 Years of the Council of Fashion Designers of America" by Patricia Mears. Diane von Furstenberg wrote the preface in a gorgeous book with 500 illustrations in a book that celebrates the 50th anniversary of the CFDA.
*Home Spa Gifts. It's lovely to get a gift package the helps turn your bathroom into the spa at the local Four Seasons. Buy her new scrubbing brushes including a foot brush and full body brush. You can add some relaxing CDs to the present to pop in while lounging in the tub.
*Chocolate and Lots of It. Vosges chocolate is a high end, artesian chocolate that many haven't heard of before and is a true, decadent treat. Of course, she might not fit into her Dior LBD afterwards, but it's her birthday – she can eat chocolate if she wants to. There's also Divine Chocolate, a fair trade chocolate from Germany, that's beyond delish. Again, one box for you…one for your friend.
