Women of a certain age stole the fashion spotlight from the sexy ingenues at the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards earlier this month in Los Angeles.
Four women spearheaded iconic styles at the event, which honors the screenwriters, editors, and others who work behind the scenes on movies.
Director Kathryn Bigelow was a femme fatale in a long-sleeve black sheath, her hair hanging down naturally. (Can you believe she's 57?!) Tippi Hedron went the "Society Scion" route in a crisp beige skirt suit, but her animal-print blouse, silver stilettos, and liberally applied red lipstick showed she's wild at heart.
On the other end of the spectrum was Ann Roth, in a bohemian faux fur vest and a statement necklace. Roth knew not to go over the top with makeup or earrings—she's an award-winning costume designer, after all. Kat Kramer, in a tri-color beret, plunging raspberry dress, and enough baubles to stock a Tiffany's, looked like the art teacher we wish we'd had in college. Or, come to think of it, like a groovier Georgette Mosbacher.
