
Sitting at my desk isn't the same as traveling the world and seeing the great sites for myself. But every once in a while I'll comb the world by computer, looking for the most interesting, important, and occasionally inane travel stories that will make you a smarter globetrotter. Here's what I've been reading today.
1. China's Silk Road
This report from the New York Times travels to one of the world's wonderfully hidden spots along the Silk Road in western China, along the paths of countless civilizations past.
2. The Worst Teeth in America
Unless you're a dentist, it's unlikely you make your travel plans based on the quality of a city's incisors. But according to the Baltimore Sun, reporting on a survey conducted by Men's Health magazine, we need to be aware of bite blight.
3. One of Las Vegas' Shining Stars Goes Out
Yes, friends, I'm sorry to report that the Liberace Museum is closing. So much for what happens in Vegas staying in Vegas.

Here's a story I can relate to, the problems that we tall people have in airplanes. No, I don't need your sympathy but please don't stick me in a seat that doesn't recline!

This one is serious. As USA Today reports, now is not a good time to go to France.
