5 Fads You Might Be Too Old to Wear

The new way of approaching fashion is to think that women of all ages can wear almost anything. "Almost" being the key word. Some fads are just too juvenile for even the trendiest middle-aged woman to carry off. You'll see what we mean in this gallery.

1. Socks

Why socks may be too young for you to wear: Socks — from over-the-knee socks to ankle socks — are one of the hottest trends out there right now (even Victoria's Secret models were rocking them on the runway.) Adorable on a 20-year-old; not so much on the likes of middle-aged Sonja Morgan, pictured here.

A better alternative to socks: Try patterned tights to spice up your wardrobe. The most wearable styles are black with a subtle pattern like lace on them.

Actually, I think she looks adorable. I am sick of "experts" telling me that I should lay down and die, just because I am over 40 (translate....wear gray and sport an elegant bob)
