2. Ties

Why a tie may be too young for you to wear: Ties are popping up on young celebrities everywhere, as the menswear craze continues. But while a loose tie may look fresh and cute on a youngster, a stuffy suit and tie on 50-something Wendie Malick looks a little too Victor/Victoria to be classy in middle age.

A better alternative to a tie: Menswear can be lots of fun, including oxfords, boy blazers and — of course — a man's white shirt. If you feel like you need a little something extra around the neck, try a scarf.
