5 Fads You Might Be Too Old to Wear

3. Hair Glitter

Why hair glitter may be too young for you to wear: "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star Adrienne Maloof, 49, is just one of the latest celebrities to try out the trend of hair glitter or hair tinsel, which on her are strands of shiny gold added to her hair.

A better alternative to hair glitter: Changing up your hair is key to keeping a fresh, up-to-date look, but being too faddish in middle-age can make you look like you are trying too hard to stay young. Instead of glitz, try sophisticated lighter highlights around your face to light up your skin or go with a deep rich brunette or red.
