6 Makeup Mistakes Over 40 (and How to Fix Them)

Is your makeup aging you? Do your eyebrows add years to your face? We asked New York-based makeup artist Joe J. Simon (whose clients include Julianne Moore and Jane Seymour) what he thought were some of the biggest no-nos for the face after 40 (and how to fix these beauty faux pas.)

2. Skimpy Eyebrows

"Over-plucked eyebrows can age the face," says makeup pro Joe J. Simon.

Beauty fix: "A fuller, nicely arched brow looks more youthful and can also give a lift to the entire face," makeup pro Joe J. Simon said."If the brow hairs will not grow back anymore from years of plucking, a fuller look can be achieved using brow pencils and powders." Joe also says you can use a powder a shade lighter than the actual hair color to fill in and to add depth and shape. Then, if needed, use the pencil to add definition and to fill in sparse areas
