6 Makeup Mistakes Over 40 (and How to Fix Them)

Is your makeup aging you? Do your eyebrows add years to your face? We asked New York-based makeup artist Joe J. Simon (whose clients include Julianne Moore and Jane Seymour) what he thought were some of the biggest no-nos for the face after 40 (and how to fix these beauty faux pas.)

5. Sparse Eylashes

As we age, our eyelashes become less full.

Beauty fix: "A lush set of eyelashes will always convey a younger appearance," makeup artist Joe J. Simon said."This can be achieved using false eyelashes or lash extensions." He added: "Individual lashes look to most natural and can be applied fairly easily with a tweezer and eyelash glue." Don't want to do it yourself? Salons offer eyelash extension application. "A technician  uses a stronger adhesive to attach up to hundreds of single lashes which keeps the lashes attached for 4-6 weeks (on average)," Joe J. Simon said.
