Are We Ready for a Hat Comeback?

All those crazy hats on the heads of the moneyed & titled almost eclipsed the royal wedding. Are we inspired, appalled or intrigued by the tradition of British hat-wearing?

Twisted Sister

Princess Eugenie of York & her sister Princess Beatrice of York — daughters of Sarah Ferguson & Prince Andrew — have taken a lot of flack for their headgear. It's true that Beatrice proves that an unfortunate dress can't be improved by an unfortunate hat.

But let's rethink Eugenie's Phillp Treacy-designed hat. Yes, it clashes a bit with the neckwork on the Valentino outfit. And unless viewed head-on (excuse the pun), it does look like it's growing out of her head. But it's growing on me. I'm starting to love the sheer sculpture and boldness of it. The way I grew to love Bjork's swan dress.
