OK, it's not really his birthday, but it is the day the Bard and his timeless words are commemorated. We like timeless here! And whose life can't use a little more romance and poetry?

Rent Shakespeare in Love

The delicious Dame Judi Dench won an Oscar for playing Queen Elizabeth I in the delighful romantic comedy Shakespeare in Love. She may have been onscreen a scant 8 minutes but she made the most of it with the soul-searing delivery of a line about being a woman in a man's profession, and the amusing send-up of the legend that the tradition of men throwing their jackets over puddles for ladies to step across originates with this queen. It's also a fun, fanciful take on the genesis of Romeo & Juliet.

Such an interesting and fun piece! I loved the stylish Shakespeare references, and great suggestions for celebrating the day.
