New York City style gets a lot of attention, especially during the holidays -- Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, Rockefeller Center's Christmas Tree and ice-skating rink, lavishly decorated shop windows and New Years Eve's Swarovski Crystal Ball drop in Times Square. It is a sparkling city of romance, ambition and lore. We combed through author Jeryl Brunner's My City, My New York for celebrity style tips from midlifers.
CBS's highly addictive The Good Wife is supposed to be in Chicago, but insiders know it's really New York, and star Julianna Margulies (here at the L'Oreal Legends Gala at NYC's Museum of Natural History) couldn't be happier: "The thing I love about New York is [when] you meet someone for lunch, there’s always something to do. ...I meet my girlfriend who lives on the Upper East Side, [and] we always start at Fred’s at Barneys and have the Mark’s Madison Avenue Salad. It’s my favorite salad in the whole world. It’s a garden in a bowl. Then I’ll go to the Whitney or the Met ... the Guggenheim is phenomenal ... I grew up thinking that they closed the Guggenheim on Mondays so that the skateboarders could skate down it. [My dad] had me believing that until I got to college."
