Norma Kamali

"Norma has always marched to her own drummer," Beckett states. "She's also always championed basics (much like Donna Karan) in her own seductive way – talking one thing and showing 9 million ways to wear it. Based on a woman's needs."

She splashed onto the scene in the '70s [with Farrah Fawcett's famous red swimsuit] "but made a conscious decision not to go too big. Now she's really hot again — look those puffy quilted anoraks that are back again. I think she's also doing a line for Speigel."

Of Kamali's youthful looks, Beckett remembers, "She told me, decades ago, it's all about Pilates! She was always ahead of the time."
