First Family Indigo Girls - Inauguration Fashion

There's definitely a conscious color palette going on for the first family in this second inauguration of President Obama. There was a switch off in hues between presidential daughters Malia and Sasha from yesterday's ensembles (lower image) and today's ceremony. But they all complemented each other, with First lady Michelle Obama's gloves matching daughter Malia's ensemble.

NBC's Brian Williams talked to fashion analyst Robin Givhan about Michelle Obama's new bangs and everyone's outfit. She noted the contrast with the First Lady's lemongrass yellow for the first inauguration and that the blue hues were "reserved [and] much more fitting for a second inauguration." As I said yesterday though, I do think it will be confusing for historians 100+ years from now, trying to distinguish days and events from each other -- you have to think about these things historically, especially historical events!

Michelle needs to take her wonderful mother shopping for great clothes to match the rest of the family! The mother's coat looks like a comphy bath robe!

really? I thought it looked so cozy, like you'd want to climb in her lap, but maybe that's what you mean. : )
