Short 'n' Chunky

Prolific musician John Zorn has a subtle blend of styles to create a unique signature sideburn (not unlike his music actually): short like a businessman, but the width sends a more hip message. "Not a typical sideburn," notes Wood, "and a little scruffy for my personal taste. However, [he] is obviously a musician and is going for a more artsy look than most people prefer." She adds that personalizing your sideburn style has much to do with the pattern of your facial hair. Because Zorn's grows higher, he's able to achieve this look easily. Her tip:

¢Look straight into the mirror and place your index finger at the bottom of each sideburn to check for evenness. This will help guide you and allow you to see what you are doing. Adjust as needed.

I think this style looks clean and conservative with just a hint of hip. Plus, at 57, Zorn's an example of how you can go through a lot of styles before finding one that works for you.
