The Screen Actors Guild awards, as award shows go, is pretty painless. Short, sweet, and to the point, it’s all about the acting – and the fashion. Transgenerational trends we saw: ponytails, chandelier earrings, oyster dresses, cap sleeves, and lots of texture in the form of beading, embroidery and embellishment.
Oysters/ecru/off-white/cream was a big trend here, the way blush was at the Golden Globes and the other trend was very much in evidence: texture, texture, texture.
Even though it looked like it was missing a belt, Tilda Swinton, 51, took the day in a modern Greek goddess gown that fell straight down in soft folds. Rose Byrne took a chance by making her red carpet look a jumpsuit; Kristen Wiig, whose talent is so vivid, went bland and washed out again with her dress. The girl posse described Gretchen Mol's gown as channeling a nurse's uniform.
