Trendspotting at the 2012 SAG Awards

The Screen Actors Guild awards, as award shows go, is pretty painless. Short, sweet, and to the point, it’s all about the acting – and the fashion. Transgenerational trends we saw: ponytails, chandelier earrings, oyster dresses, cap sleeves, and lots of texture in the form of beading, embroidery and embellishment.

SAG: Stars in Sapphire

Jewel tones are the norm for Jane Lynch, 51, and she has another hit here in shimmering star sapphire with the smart addition of pockets. Diane Lane, 47, hasn't dazzled this much on the red carpet in a while, but her azure blue one-shoulder gown with another asymmetrical waist embellishment washes away the past.

New to the red carpet, Jessica Chastain looks serene, but could handle a little more sparkle. She'll be back though, so she'll get the hang of it.
